Sappanwood (Caesalpinia sappan), also known as Pathimugam in Kerala, is sourced directly from South Kerala. This precious wood has been used for centuries as a natural red dye and in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. We source directly from sustainable plantations in Kerala.

How to Identify Quality

Color: Quality sappanwood has a rich reddish-brown to deep orange-red heartwood. Pale color indicates sapwood mixed in.
Water Test: Authentic sappanwood releases a beautiful red color when soaked in water within minutes.
Weight: Dense, heavy wood indicates mature, high-quality heartwood with more brazilin content.
Scent: Slight woody, somewhat sweet aroma. Chemical smell indicates artificial additives.
