How to Identify Quality

Color: Deep golden-orange inside when cut. Pale yellow indicates low curcumin.
Aroma: Earthy, slightly bitter, and warm smell. Chemical smell indicates adulteration.
Water Test: Pure turmeric settles slowly in water. Quick settling suggests added starch or lead chromate.
Fingers: Whole turmeric fingers should be hard, heavy, and free from insect damage.
